Mr. Tomitaka and Mr. Honkawa argue that the suicide rate in Japan has been steadily decreasing since the word war Ⅱ. However, looking at the transition of the standardized suicide rate starting from 1947 by gender, the appearance changes completely. In the case of men, it can not be said that it is consistently decreasing, there are clearly three suicidal surge periods. The 2nd and 3rd suicidal surge period is the period when the suicide of middle-aged men has suddenly increased, overlapping with the period of serious economic crisis.
