From the textbook used in the training courses for social workers and psychiatric social workers, the author extracted descriptions about feeling rules and conducted a qualitative analysis with reference to the KJ method. As a result, emotion management was performed according to the feeling rule of accepting and feeling empathy for the client, and was the basis of attitudes and interventions to the client. Empathy was supposed to comprehend by the feelings of others through empathy and imagining the viewpoints of others. Supporting relationships with clients were said to be emotional interactions and relationships were built at emotional level. However, it has also been shown that one's emotions sometimes hinder relationships with clients.
