 note = {現在の深海底には，珪質軟泥，石灰質軟泥，深海底粘土が堆積している。それぞれの堆積物の成因は違う。陸上でみられる地質時代の深海底堆積物とされるものは，層状チャートを主とし深海底粘土を少量伴っている。地質時代と現世の深海底堆積物の違いは，石灰質軟泥の溶解と深海底粘土の堆積速度によって説明可能ではあるが，すべてを説明できるわけではない。なかでも層の形成メカニズムは重要な課題となっている。, Siliceous ooze, calcareous ooze, and pelagic clay deposit at the present abyssal sea. The origins of these sediments are different. The abyssal sedimentary rocks on land consist mainly of beded－chert, and slightly abyssal clayrock. The differences of abyssal sediments between the present and geological age could be explained by dissolution of calcareous ooze and sedimentary speed of abyssal clay.
